6 Ways to Develop a Growth Mindset

The world is always rich in opportunities, but only for those who can see and seize them. Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Succeeding requires that we engage in the process of our own personal growth. It can be incredibly hard to remain forever open to being wrong and changing direction. It is natural to become overly attached to what we think works and to what is familiar. To develop a growth mindset, we must train ourselves not to view "deficit" as a deficiency in our ability, but rather, as a deficiency in our own learning or experience. Since, we are all capable of learning and experiencing, these two constructs can be easily fulfilled. The only way we can stop succeeding is if we choose to close our minds to change, to learning and to further developing the depth of our knowledge and insight. Want To Succeed? Turn Your Fixed Mindset into a Growth Mindset

Using failure as a learning opportunity and growing by letting yourself be challenged can be a powerful ally on your road to success. Opinions expressed  I've been researching  success principles  and  psychology  for decades. First, it was for myself and the growth I knew I needed to be a successful entrepreneur. Later, it was to help others and to be able to explain some of the things that I knew intuitively but couldn't quite put my finger on. Carol Dweck is a psychology professor at Stanford who researches social development, personality and motivation. She's mainly known for her work on mindset and how your essential mindset determines the level of your success. Her books and  TED  Talks describe the difference between "fixed" and "growth"  mindsets . After reading Dweck's work, I realized our mindsets' value and impact. Harnessing the power of a fixed mindset is the  key to your success . Traits of a fixed mindset A person with a  ...

To Really Shine at Work, How Much Sleep Is Required?

It’s now no secret that feeling tired can affect  moods, motivation and focus . But it's entirely possible for people to remain unaware of these effects when  sleep  deprivation sets in. Entrepreneurs and busy professionals tend to burn the candle at both ends, which often means regularly cutting back on sleep or subsisting on the bare minimum. Many prominent businesspeople like  Donald Trump and Martha Stewart  brag about getting by on as little as four hours a night to stay on top of their empires. The modern work culture tends to promote the idea that sleeping is time wasted and that as long as people feel OK, they're probably getting enough rest. But is how you feel really an accurate gauge of how well rested you are? You may not be as well-rested as you think. A study, described on the  Neurology Reviews  site in 2009, aimed to determine performance and perception during  sleep deprivation . Researchers tested 23...

Navigating through the age is Disinformation

No News is Good News The modern era presents opportunities that our ancestors never knew. Yet, our ever-broadening possibilities also introduce unique obstacles. Through cable television and the internet, there is an infinite supply of information available with just a click of a button. This flood of information is often unsolicited. We go online to find a guided meditation or maybe a few relaxing asanas, and we are bombarded with information.  Often presented in a manner meant to buttress the believability or evidentiary quality, there are no guarantees that the information heaped on us is factual. And so, what began as the age of information has become the age of disinformation. System Overload Information has become faster, more plentiful, but not necessarily better, leading many to feel powerless, hopeless, angry, and afraid. And who wouldn’t be when being drowned in a sea of depressing, panic-inducing information on a global scale. It is also presented sensationally because s...

Harnessing the Power f words...

Have u ever noticed that during those times you were convinced something would go wrong, it usually did? “I’m going to mess this speech up; they’re not going to like me; I am not good enough.” On the other hand, in those times when you were convinced you couldn’t fail, things tended to go smoothly and successfully. “I can’t lose; I just know there is a connection; I have what it takes.” While we all have varying degrees of psychic knowing, these self-fulfilling prophecies have more to do with mindset than intuitive premonitions. Negative self-talk comes in many forms. It may sound factual, “I won’t get the raise,” prudent, “If I try, I’ll fail,” or like a realistic observation, “I am all alone.” Negative self-talk hinders our healing, growth, evolution, and ascension, creating adverse outcomes for ourselves and our lives.   We all have an occasional dark cloud floating across our clear mental skies. However, it can’t rain every day! The more negative thoughts we have, the more ne...

The magic f words...

Losing What Silence Could Win 8/13/2022 0 Comments   By Lori Lines The Magic of Words Words have held power long before we have the technology to record or transport them. Before there was the internet, television, telephones, or even telegrams, there was the spoken word. An integral part of ancient folk medicine and spirituality, ancients used their words like herbs to breathe life and power into their rituals and rites. Contemporary science has now come to "discover" what ancient people always knew; the power of the words is made evident by language studies like Neuro-Linguistic Programming.  Words have the power to hurt and heal. They can secure a victory or cause a loss. Moreover, the spoken word is infinite because it can never be erased. We must understand the true power of what we give voice to because we create the fullness of our experience through it. The Essence of Life While once a novel concept, many are now aware of the power and pervasive nature of energy. The ...
